MIDTOWN GET-AROUND

How Can We Make Public Transportation Work For Our Beloved Community

One of the greatest barriers to transportation access is cost. It’s expensive to buy a car, maintain it, insure it, and fuel it. And if you need to get someplace not easily accessible by bus, your options for work, medical care, childcare, and shopping are greatly limited. Knowing how dependent we all are on transportation in this city, we knew that creating a low-cost transportation program was essential to the success of our beloved community.

What’s a “shared lease”?

It means we’re partners. We lease from priority landlords in the neighborhood and sublet their spaces to community members in need of transitional housing. We’re essentially inviting you to share the lease with us, because we value your contribution to the beloved community. We offer:

  • Subsidized rent
  • Assistance paying off an eviction, if you have one
  • Help preparing you for a rental of your choosing, or even home ownership

Break the cycle

Put housing struggles behind you. There are so many reasons why any one of us can have difficulty maintaining reliable housing. We know everyone’s issues are unique. And we know that they don’t just affect us, but our entire household. That’s why we provide personalized life coaching to help identify the root cause of issues, prevent them in the future, and heal any harm that lingers into the present.
